Anatomy/Physiology Expectations and Policies
Instructor: Mrs. Hansen Room 102
EXPECTATIONS:
Be in your seat and ready to start class when the bell rings or you are TARDY.
BE PREPARED! Bring notebook, textbook, pen or pencil, and your assignment or you will lose participation points. Textbooks must have a cover.
Assignments will be done in blue or black ink or pencil or points will be deducted. NO RED INK OR PASTEL GEL PENS!
Hand in assignments on time. Half-credit can be earned if turned in by the next day.
It is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed after an absence. You can get missed notes from me or a classmate. Talk to me before or after class a.s.a.p. to get assignments.
You will remain in the classroom the entire period. You will not be allowed to go to your locker or the restroom (except for emergencies) once class begins SO PLAN AHEAD!
Remain seated until the bell rings. NO “HERDING” AT THE DOOR!
DO YOUR OWN WORK! Copying someone’s homework or test is CHEATING and is unacceptable behavior. Dividers will be used for all quizzes and tests to reduce this temptation. If students are caught cheating, they will receive a “0″ for that assignment.
NO EATING in class. Water bottles should remain in book bags when not being used.
Gum chewing is okay as long as it’s not disruptive and it remains in your mouth.
Passing notes is not allowed. I have been known to read them to the class if I intercept any.
NO PROFANE OR OBSCENE LANGUAGE! This includes clothing, book bags, notebooks, etc.
No talking when I am speaking. Not only do you miss out on information or instructions, but so do your neighbors.
No game-playing on calculators or phones during class.
Do not write on desks, chairs or dividers. Violators will clean all of the desks after school.
Do not sit on desktops or lab benches.
No violence, rough-housing, or horsing around. People can get hurt. You will be sent to ISS immediately.
Any inappropriate behavior or language will result in a suspension from class. This can last for up 3 days. After a second offense, you will NOT be allowed to return to the classroom for the remainder of the semester. This will result in an “F” for that term.
You will be dropped from class when you accumulate 5 unexcused absences. **Note: 3 unexcused tardies = 1 unexcused absence.
Lab safety equipment: These items are not toys! Do not touch the safety shower, fire extinguisher or any other item unless there is a REAL EMERGENCY!
If there is a fire, the emergency button is the red one by the door. It will turn off all power and gas to the lab. DO NOT PUSH IT UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO!
Cell phones will not be used during class!
Cell phones are to remain on tables in my view at all times. If I see you using it, I will confiscate it.
HOMEWORK/TESTING POLICIES:
Homework will be collected at the BEGINNING of class period. Anything turned in after that is considered LATE and will only earn half credit. To receive half credit, the assignment must be turned in before class the next day.
Homework and tests must have your name and period number in the upper right corner. NO NAME = NO CREDIT
If you have questions or need help, see me before or after school. I cannot adequately help you when it is time to begin class!
If you are absent, I expect your assignment to be turned in the next day.
If you miss a test, it needs to be made up on the day you return.
If you miss the day before the test (review, etc.), it needs to be made up the next day after you return to school.
When you schedule a time to make up a test with me and do not show up, there will be a 10% deduction in points on that test. PLEASE CALL ME IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT!
If you miss several days of school, please come and make arrangements with me to schedule when you can make up your work.
ADVANCED MAKE UP: If you know that you will be gone due to a school activity, vacation, etc., you must get an advanced make up slip from the office. This needs to be signed by your teachers and you may be required to do some of the work BEFORE you leave.
Tests are given for each unit of study. They consist of true/false, multiple choice, matching, short answer, and identification questions.
A retest option is available once per semester for each student. You must make arrangements with me to take that test by the deadline. The results will be averaged together.
GRADING / EVALUATION:
Your grade will be determined by the total number of points with the following weights:
Tests/quizzes/projects – 70%
Homework/labs/notebooks – 25%
Participation* – 5%
*(This includes being present, being prepared for class, actively taking part in class discussions, being attentive, staying on task during a lab or activity, staying awake during videos, etc.)
